Scope and contents
Vali created these laminated photographs and displayed them on the walls of her studio in the Nicholas Building Melbourne, telling the story of her life. This sequence includes copies of some unique images and shows her curated collection of selected images documenting her life for visitors to view. Subjects include Il Porto and surrounds, Gianni and Vali at Il Porto, copies of early black and white photographs of Vali and Rudi Rappold and her family, the animals at Il Porto, Vali dancing with the gypsies at the Festival of Madonna Dell'Arco Naples, portraits, Vali in her Melbourne Studio Nicholas Building, the Dingo Farm Chewton near Castlemaine, Vali in Sydney, friends and family at Il Porto and at the Studio Nicholas Building. General note
The laminated photographs are enlarged copies and 'blow-ups' mostly sourced from the chromogenic colour prints housed at LTA 2546, some black and white photographs at LTAF 1305 and some unique sources not held. Many are duplicate images from the chromogenic photographs but show her curated collection of the selected photographs. There are also photographs showing the laminated prints on the walls of the studio in photographs held at LTA 2546 Box 4, H2022.22/294 etc.
