Series 1: Papers of Sir Clive McPherson and Lady Sidney McPherson, 1839-1969
Scope and contents
Series 1 contains material primarily relating to Sir Clive and Lady Sidney McPherson. It holds personal and professional correspondence, personal papers, calendar and appointment diaries, and early records regarding their respective families. It also includes professional papers, financial records, and legal documents relating to Clive McPherson’s career, the family’s agricultural properties – both the stock produced and the domestic arrangements, organisations with which Sidney McPherson was involved, and general administrative records.

Arrangement
This series has been divided into six artificial sub-series that reflect the different document types, the functions of the records, and the biographical context of the material. Due to the nature of the material, some of the content overlaps between the first two sub-series (Correspondence and Personal papers), and the last two sub-series (Professional papers and Financial records and legal documents).
