Biographical / Historical

Alistair Knox was a pioneer of the mud-brick house and made a significant contribution to the development of alternative architecture in Australia and the earth building movement especially in the outer Melbourne suburbs of Eltham and Warrandyte. He was a self-taught builder and was a founding member of the Australian Institute of Landscape Architects. In 1984 he received an honorary doctorate in architecture from the University of Melbourne.
