Bone carvings
Scope and contents
Consists of 13 pieces of carved bone, possibly carved by John Powers, Herbie Kearney or Rudi Rappold. The carvings include two entwined figures (H2021.92/1); a scrimshaw piece with the image of a whale about to be harpooned with figures in row boat and ship in background (H2021.92/2); carving of Vali and Foxy embracing (H2021.92/3); Maori hei tiki (H2021.92/4); carving of three skulls around a central figure (H2021.92/5); Snakes around a goddess figure (H2021.92/6); carving of a shell (H2021.92/7); small carving of figures of a nude man and woman around a hollow cone (H2021.92/8); carved East Asian figure of man (H2021.92/9); carving of shell with skull in centre (H2021.92/10); carving of shell (H2021.92/11; carving of the figure of a woman (H2021.92/12); carved whale (H2021.92/13).
Also housed with this collection of carvings in Box 41 is a small Chinese ink stick for calligraphy H2021.52 at LTRE 775 BOX 41.
