Series 4: Artworks by Pierre Feuillette, 1955
Scope and contents
Pierre Feuillette was described by Vali Myers in her Visual diary as ‘Pierre Feuillette from Rabat My No. 1 cat from 1949-52’ (see Visual diary H2018.436, p. 13), a French Moroccan who was in and out of gaol in the early 1950s. Pierre Feuillette (as ‘Jean-Michel’) was photographed in Paris with Vali (as ‘Ann’) in the photo-novel ‘Love on the left bank’ by Dutch photographer Ed van der Elsken (London, Andre Deutsch, 1956). These two works numbered H2021.38 PCLT 1620 Boxed oil and H2021.39 PCLTBOX/MYERS Box 23 relate to Vali Myers time in Paris living on the streets and cafes of the Saint-Germain-des-Pres Quarter, and her relationship at that time with Pierre Feuillette. There are related letters from Pierre to Vali and black and white photographs in the Manuscripts component.
