Scope and contents
Shows the face of a woman with red wavy hair and a tiger lily in her hair, looking down over the Valley of Il Porto, Galli island and the sea, with the towering cliffs and scenes of Il Porto with tiny figures of animals and people.
Described by Gianni Menichetti in 'Notes about Vali's drawings in this book' (YMS 16336, Box 6/3): It started as: 'Death of a Tiger Lily', and Vali left it alone...for many years. The tiger lily was one of Vali's favourite flowers and she used to wear it in her hair when she was a young girl. Below the face, the sea and the Sirens' Island seen from the Valley, with its high cliffs and animal scenes.
