Scope and contents
Shows the figure of a pearl diver with a pearl between her teeth, with two eels on either side.
Described by Gianni Menichetti in 'Notes about Vali's drawings in this book' (MS 16336, Box 6/3): Precious pearls are born out of pain, sickness and suffering. Vali, far from running away from pain, always dived, like a real shaman, into the darkest depths of her inner sea, like a pearl-diver looking for treasures. This one is flanked by two moray-eels.
There is a pencil sketch of a floating pearl diver with her mouth open on the reverse at H2019.292/10A.
