Queen and Eel

Scope and contents

Shows the face of a woman with embellishments, her red hair forming lines with an eel curled around in the scrolls at the bottom. The right side of her face has been left in pencil.

Described by Gianni Menichetti in his 'Notes about Vali's drawings in this book' (YMS 16336 Box6/3): Fire and water. She greatly loved eels and at night those naturally living in the ponds in her garden, as soon as they would see the torchlight shining, would come out of the mud, where they were lurking, near the water's surface, to eat from her fingers little worms or more oftne shreds of pasta.
