Title inscribed on front cover with a drawing of Vali in profile writing in her diary and the names and drawings of animals Sophie (chicken), Moby Dick and Morella the dog. Inscribed on title page: The Book of Flying Foxes, and Rabbits in Nests, and Birds in Burrows, and Black and Blue and Golden Days...Inscribed on title page:" Dedicated to all creatures of feather and fur and midnight eyes with golden lids open on eternity". Diary cover is reproduced on page 93 of 'Nightflower: the life and art of Vali Myers'.
