[H 17827] ‘Rucker’s Bondmen’. Note by Fawkner in reply to an unknown inquirer. It lists twelve names, presumably the syndicate of businessmen known as the ‘Twelve Apostles’, of whom Fawkner was one. In February, 1843 the ‘Apostles’ signed a bond for W.F.A. Rucker’s debt of 10,000 pounds to the Union Bank: the resulting liability was instrumental in bringing on Fawkner’s bankruptcy. 11th August, 1868. MS., 2p.
