Records include: The Melbourne Society of Women Painters and Sculptors: a brief history from 1901 - 1959, compiled by Marjorie McChesney Mathews, 1959; minutes 1904-1971; correspondence 1961-1978; catalogues, press cuttings. Also manuscripts, artworks and autobiographical materials of the sculptor Ola Cohn (1892-1864). The Society was founded in 1901 by women who had been students at the National Gallery School, to provide a forum for artistic discussion and an opportunity to view and comment on each other's work.
