Scope and contents
Manuscript notes of sermons and newspaper articles, press cuttings relating largely to Mildura, irrigation and the dried fruits industry, pamphlets, photographs, and a small amount of correspondence. Tables and schedules relating to crops, irrigation, rainfall etc. (shelved at MS FB 1). Also a scrapbook containing portraits, photographs, letters 1912-1920, newspaper cuttings 1915-1921 and miscellaneous papers (shelved at MS FB 7), many of which relate to Elisha De Garis' marriage to his second wife, Miss Minnie Waugh, in 1919. Also a volume containing various newspapers 1936-1937, relating to the Coronation of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth (shelved at MS F BOX 412). Also bound volumes containing brochures, menus, plan etc. of R.M.S. Queen Mary and the Canadian Pacific Railways; "The true likeness of John Wesley", privately printed, London, 1930; and a bound volume of Native & foreign grasses found on Werribee, E.C. de Garis, 1890, containing mounted, labelled specimens (all at MS FB 9).

Methodist Minister, 1877-1889. Pioneer of irrigation in Victoria, particularly in the Mildura district. Member of the Australian Dried Fruits Association.
