Scope and Content

The records of the expedition, including correspondence, despatches and reports; the field notes of William John Wills (second in command); the minutes of the Royal Society (1857-1862); sketches of Ludwig Becker. Other groups relating to the various relief expeditions include the diaries of A.W. Howitt, records of W. Landsborough’s contingent party, and the expeditions of Captain Norman and F. Walker. Includes a testimonial to John King from East Collingwood Municipal Council, 16th December, 1861 and a certificate presented to John King, as the only survivor of the advanced party of the Victorian Exploration Expedition, also several other certificates (MC 5, DR 2) ; Agreements, dated 1860-1861 (MC 5, DR 6).
