Scope and Contents
This collection of Janine Burke comprises Drafts/ Manuscripts of "The Heart Garden: Sunday Reed and Heide"; "Australian Gothic: a life of Albert Tucker"; "Our Lady of Apollo Bay"; "Company of Images"; "The Messenger"(unpublished), and some short stories, articles and poemns. Two volume Thesis: "A portrait of Albert Tucker, 1914-1960" for the requirements for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy, 2001. Fifty Notebooks: Diaries and Travel Journals from her school years (1965) through to her years at Melbourne University and while she was overseas writing "The God of Freud " (2006) and for search on Georgia O'Keefe for "Source: Nature's Healing Role in Art and Writing" (2009).
Audio Cassette Tapes and transcripts of Interviews by Janine with various people about/relating to Albert Tucker, Joy Hester and Heide; a large collection of Personal Correspondence, and business correspondence from editors and publishers and other artists; exhibition catalogues, invitations, video cassettes, press clippings, book reviews; small collection of quarterly Magazine "Meanjin " (1970's).
Also, papers and photographs relating to research into Joy Hester and Heide; a collection of 265 slides of Joy Hester's art works; and photocopy of poems written by Joy Hester from 1940's.

Biographical Note
Janine Burke was born in Melbourne in 1952. She is an author, art historian, biographer and award-winning novelist. She curates exhibitions of historical and contemporary art, she also acted as a consultant to films and documentaries.
While completing a fine arts degree at the University of Melbourne, she began writing art criticism for journals and newspapers, and organising exhibitions of art.
Janine Burke graduated from the University of Melbourne in 1974 with a Bachelor of Arts (Hons). From 1977-1982, she lectured in art history at the Victorian College of the Arts. She later resigned to become a professional writer .
In 1986 she was awarded a Master of Arts at LaTrobe University, and a PhD from Deakin University in 2002.
In 1995, Janine Burke published "Dear Sun: The Letters of Joy Hester and Sunday Reed". During 1996-2005, she was working as a trustee of Heide MoMA.
Lately, Janine Burke had convened symposiums at Monash University (2012) and at the University of Melbounre (2014).
