General note

Submitting a proposition which may form the basis of future dealings between the Smithsonian Institute and the Public Library.

The Trustees will distribute Smithsonian publications in Australia.

At the close of the Exhibition the Commissioner will give the exhibition displays to the Institute.

The complete set of books should go to the National Library of the Capitol in Washington. Particularly remarkable are the biographical charts on Italian painters.

A sufficient number of types of trees should be given to the Agricultural and Horticultural Departments.

Philadelphian institutes should be next in preference to the capital. A set of books could be sent to the University of Pennsylvania.

A collection of minerals and maps and other objects to be given for the proposed museum in the Memorial Hall, and to the new museum in Central Park, New York.

Letters have been written to various institutions asking them to inform Professor Henry if they would like anything from the exhibition.

Asks Henry to demand that the Institution acknowledge the receipt of gifts, that they clearly label the objects as being presented by the Commissioners and that they exchange, if possible, contributions with the library and museum.
