General note
When she wrote her last letter she was very ill. Hopes Redmond has found good lodgings in Melbourne, and that he is leading a useful life, with pleasant neighbours to talk to.
Feels bewildered about him. The comfort of a letter from him. As he has turned architect, she hopes he will make money.
Sorry that he has to pay for the letter she sent.
Edward Jeffery has a letter of introduction to Redmond. His Aunt prefers him to be pushing forward rather than spending time with people who might make him lazy. Glad that Redmond is not vulgar like some Irish barristers.
On speaking and good conversation.
