 Item — box-folder: 600.3 (d)

Dates

  • 8 September, 1871

General note

Objection of the university council to a professor from Oxford, Cambridge or Dublin, with which he disagrees. An indefinable quality in the graduates of the three great universities which is not found in others, and which is necessary for a young country.

Wisdom in imposing certain restrictions, especially in forbidding political employment. Has received marble busts of Sturt and McLeay for the gallery. Dislike of modern furniture. Chippendale's book should be obtained for the library. (7 pages)
