General note

Has visited Woolner to see Barry's bust in marble. Death of Summers in Paris. Improvement in the political condition of Victoria would depend largely on the new Governor, and Lord Dufferin, if he would accept the position, would promote a better feeling among the classes, which could lead to confederation as in Canada.
