Enclosing letter from Mr. Thomson re selection of pictures for the Gallery. Picture committee had slighted Thomson and so occasioned his resignation. The "Moses" picture "no better than a job". Herbert, though he has a following, not a good artist, and Childers probably did not approve of the contract he had to sign. Sectarian issues entered into the purchase of the "Moses", which costs nearly two years' grants. (4 pages)
