General note
Addressed, Carlton Gardens, Melbourne. Thanking addressee for a letter, some pamphlets and a copy of the journal of the Royal United Service Institution. As Barry is no longer engaged in the volunteer force of Victoria, he sent them on to Colonel Anderson, in charge of the forces.
Wishes to inform the person who addressed the letter to him of the geographical position of Melbourne. Has recently received letters from two gentlemen of distinction who also showed lack of knowledge of Melbourne.
Sends a map and books about Australia for the library of the addressee's institution.
Wishes addressee to inform the director of the institution that the Trustees would be pleased if a complete set of the journal could be added to the collection of military works in the library. (6 pages. Draft, including notes in Barry's hand he appended to the letter.)
