Addressed, Carlton Gardens, Melbourne. Thanking him for his letter and help to Mr. Tulk. Glad to know that Sir Charles Eastlake has heard of the satisfaction expressed on his choice of pictures. Hopes that Sir Charles will help again when this year's grant of one thousand pounds can be remitted.

Pleased that he approves of the presentation of a gift to Sir Charles.

Contention concerning a new tarrif which appears to be gloomy as far as the library, museum and art gallery concerned. (4 pages. Draft)
