General note

Addressed, Carlton Gardens, Melbourne. One thousand pounds at Childers' disposal for purchase of pictures. While in London Barry contacted Sir Charles Eastlake who undertook to choose some pictures for the gallery. Childers now empowered to buy the pictures Eastlake chooses. The Commission appointed to decide the best way to spend the thousand pounds, chose to spend it on "original paintings of the modern school".

Suggests that Waters supervise the business arrangements, packing and shipping.

The Trustees also propose to spend two hundred pounds on works of Australian artists to be exhibited with the European paintings in December 1864. (2 pages. Typed)
