Major J. G. D. McNeill was Mess President, 2nd Battalion Officers' Mess, Drill Hall, Newcastle West, New South Wales. He thanks Helena Cass for sending a copy of a photograph of her husband Walter. He assures her that the portrait has been given a 'position of great pride' in the mess.
