 Item — box-folder: YMS MS 15488 BOX 1/4

Dates

  • 1916 October 12

Note:

He discusses wedding plans including travel plans for the day and the honeymoon. He says 'if I saw Birdie . . . I'll ask him to the wedding just as quick as look at him for he has always been very good to me. But he will probably be on his way back to his beloved Anzacs then and not able to attend.' He writes that the General (unnamed) 'came in today and brought an old friend of mine from W.A. to take charge of the group during my absence.' The friend is Lt Col. Collett of the 28th [Herbert Brayley Collett]. Walter mentions that he has been in contact with Collett in the past when looking for information about a soldier for an Australian friend. He mentions that it is a shame Helena's younger brother cannot come to the wedding as he is fighting in France.
