He has found a photograph of Helena in an Australian newspaper. He writes that 'I have just been seeing off 340 men from this battalion leaving tonight as re-inforcements for France' and 'quite a number of my old boys from the 2nd and 54th crowded round to shake hands and tell me their experiences.'
