 Sub-series

Dates

  • 1994 - 2008

General note

From the initial meeting of protestors against the proposed Formula One race-track in the Albert Park Reserve, held on Sunday, 20 February, 1994, SAP was formed. Members and well-wishers gathered information and wrote responses, submissions, refutations, historical treatises, etc (as well as many letters to newspapers and politicians).

By 11 August, 1994, the date of the first official executive meeting of SAP, approximately 11 titles had been issued as SAP literature. The Grand Prix Factsheet were issued from February, 1995, until March, 1998, under that title.

The Information and Research Sub-Committee would have been responsible for some, but not all of these and the flood of information that ensued.

In 1995, a chronological listing of all of the previously issued documents was attempted. The first 'Publication List' was dated 6 July, 1994, and was no. 43 on the list. After that, every effort was made to keep the list up-to-date by identifying and describing all new titles, re-issues and revisions as they appeared. A revised list was issued from time to time.

Sixteen issues of the 'Publication List' were published, the latest in 2009. The last factsheet was issued in May, 2002.

From 1995, there were 2 separate sequences of publications, though from 1998, all new publications were filed sequentially in the 'Current File'.

The planning and design of the Publications List, as well as the supervision of its production was the work of Iris Nicolades from 1994 till 2007, when Iris passed away.

This subseries includes a sheet entitled 'Historical Publications presented to Save Albert Park in 1994' and a 2 page document entitled 'Reference documents SAP Office'. These publications are held at the Save Albert Park Office and not with this collection.
