Biographical / Historical

Iris was heavily involved in the recruitment of SAP members.

During 1994, Iris collected newspaper clippings which were examined for letter-writers and opinion pieces on the Grand Prix at Albert Park by people not yet registered as members. All letter-writers were sent a thank-you letter and a membership application form to join SAP. Iris continued this practice until mid 1995.

From December, 1994, to mid 1995, Iris contacted shopowners in Prahran, Toorak, Armadale, Fitzroy and Richmond and sent them information about the issues of Formula 1 racing in Albert Park.

A selection of newspaper articles, letters and factsheets published by SAP, were distributed to shopkeepers in shopping centres in marginal electorates by Iris and others in the group. Every few months between November, 1994 - February, 2002, Iris made a selection of SAP publications, newspaper clippings and other items containing information on the SAP campaign and sent these documents to local and school libraries.
