Scope and contents

Material currently housed in archival ‘Albox’ album: 49 pages (sleeves); contains clippings from magazines and newspapers, photographs of paintings and of Arkley at work on paintings (p. 3 ff), in particular, the paintings ‘High Fenced’, ‘Theatrical Façade’, and ‘Shadow Factory’ (these photographs are dated on verso: August ’96; some show Alison Burton); postcards (p. 1 and 6); slides; source material for house paintings; doodles and drawings - dated 1994 (p. 18); Polaroid photograph of Georges Mora at the opening of Arkley’s exhibition at Tolarno in 1988; also Arkley’s modified version of Tyndall’s image of a man seeing houses from the train; postcard to Arkley from Marco Livingstone (with Patrick Caulfield image; dated 9 Oct. 1995); and several photo pockets with work-in-progress photos of ‘House with Native Tree’ (1996).

Processing information

Note on arrangement of material in album: the material has been kept in the order it originally appeared, before it was re-housed. When some photo sleeve held a collection of clippings, these have been kept together as clusters; the original (now empty) album is boxed separately (F BOX 4271).
