Scope and contents
Contains clippings and drawings, collected and used as source material for paintings, including houses, factories, patterns, a few doodles, photos of Arkley’s own works (doors, cacti, ‘Leigh’s Zappo Head, 1996); stencils (fruit bowl); Patrick Caulfield images, Stuart McFarlane highway picture; also the original clipping of Dürer-style feet used for Tattooed Feet (1983); includes one insert: an illustrated page from The Chateau of Fire, (Mills & Boon book No. 1 in Howard Arkley Archive, SLV) adhered to green paper (but coming away), and surrounded by hand written notes. This page is signed and dated lower right: HA 85; and titled lower centre: ‘Title’.
