1. The Chateau of fire (1984)

Original book published by Mills & Boon, 1961 (hardback; text by Pamela Kent). The volume includes a number of original Howard Arkley drawings (1984-88) of nudes, skulls, heads etc. The title-page is inscribed ‘Figurative by Howard Arkley’. The book is largely intact but with some pages now removed. Pages of note still present in the volume include:

pp. 17, 19, 21 & 61: nudes each signed ‘HA 84’; pp. 25 &29: heads in double-line technique; p. 41: head signed & dated (in pencil) ‘Howard Arkley 88’; pp. 79, 85 & 87: doodles over pasted-in photograph; p. 89: head; p. 99: doodle over pasted-in photograph; p. 131: creature; pp. 141, 147, 149, 153 & 155: heads; p. 151: skull.
