Scope and contents

Correspondence with organizers and organizers’ reports: memorandum/circular, 26 July 1973, from Paul Wild, Secretary, re the National Executive’s decision that Bill Mannes and he should appoint an organiser to attend Group meetings, visit members to keep the Executive and office in touch with the membership’s thinking etc. etc. and asks the recipient to let the office know of anyone who might accept the position, setting out conditions. Correspondence with or concerning possible organisers; correspondence (the chief group) with informative reports of Patrick Mahoney, sending publications with some tips on forming groups and obtaining funds. Includes copy of letter from Mahony (returned to Sydney) to Wild, Feb. 1974, describing affairs – the need for a purpose, activities for the young with comments on prospects in particular districts. Robert Markey, Simpson, 27 Feb. 1974, hoping to send notes; letter of thanks to A.R. O’Connell, Gordon, N.S.W., 4 March 1974, thanking him for putting them in touch with Mahoney, “a great success” in the short time he was with the N.C.R.M., Mahoney to Wild, 12 Oct. 1974, pleased to hear the training school is under way and that young people have a chance to get the movement going under their own initiative – trying to do the same at Sydney University with less success etc. Mahoney, 2 March 1974, thanking them for hospitality while in Melbourne (refers to Orientation Week and good results for the Democratic Coub recruiting, etc. Organiser’s Reports Feb.-March 1974.
