Correspondence with government departments, 1945-1952 (most with the Department of Regional Development; one to the Victorian Department of Labor) re settlement proposals.
Correspondence to Parliamentarians (J.H. Scullin only, 1945).
In addition, it contains B.A.S.’s correspondence with others, 1954-1960:
1954, one letter from Terry McMahon, Wangaratta, 15 Nov.
1956: Mrs. G. Bennetts, Shepparton, concerning the purpose and use of the rural movement and her desire for a balanced attitude; John Dillon, Carlton, about to leave for Iowa and hoping to make contacts; G.P. Ryan, Gordon, Vic. and “A Survey of Victoria’s Western Districts, Barwon and Corangamite Regions” by G.P. Ryan acknowledged by Crowe, Feb. 1956; George Faulkner, Mintaro, 1957: S.A., May, and Tom Henebury, Gippsland, July.
1958: Mrs. A.G. Leahy, Oct., E. St. Kilda concerning “Maryknoll”, which her son has left and where he is trying to sell his property; B.A.S.’s reply (has written to Fr. Pooley and it is now sold).
July 1959, Rev. J. Duck, Wagga Wagga, concerning proposed Prospectus of San Isidore.
Feb.-March 1960, Chris Cody, Benalla re the state of the N.C.C. in Benalla and the need for clerical help a little longer; reply, 1 March 1960, in which BAS maintains the need “to put this organisation on a civic basis”.
N.b. Bishop Henschke’s correspondence has been moved to his own file.
