Scope and contents

Letters from Leonard A. Faulkner, Secretary, Episcopal Committee for the Works of the Apostolate, answering Wild’s questions. The Episcopal Chairmen of the various organisations - long abolished and replaced by Episcopal Deputies to various organisations, Bishop Warren of Wilcannia-Forbes being that of the N.C.R.M.; there has been no change with regard to the allowance from the Committee for the Works of the Apostolate for the N.C.R.M., and a reduction in the allowance to some other orgnisations. Application may be made for an increased allowance – but it would not probably be granted “because the Bishops, in general, do not favour more support for National Movements or Organisations”. Warren to Wild, 24 Oct. 1973: has forwarded his letter to Archbishop Cahill as Secretary to the national bishops asking for an official commmunication on the position of bishop deputy; Rhomas? Archbishop of Canberra, Secretary, Australian Episcopal Conference, 26 Nov. 1973, for Bishop Warren, points out that none of the Catholic Action Movements now has an Episcopal Chairman since the restructuring of the A.E.C. 1966, Episcopal Deputies being appointed to each Movement (Warren from then E.D. for N.C.R.M.)
