Letters concerning a donation through the Bishop Henschke Appeal for the N.C.R.M., F. Clancy/B.Leech, Dec. 1958-Feb. 1959.

Henschke’s correspondence on various matters with B.A.S., Crowe, Findlay and Wild, 1960 – Feb.1965 including a pencilled transcript of the taped “Reply to B.A.S.” made by Bishop Henschke at the 1960 Convention embodying his tribute to Santamaria who has resigned as National Secretary (mentioning Fr. Hackett’s high opinion of him as an organiser against communism) and to Crowe who will replace him, the right of the Bishop to appoint the Secretary, etc. The Bishop’s correspondence includes the supply of information for MSGR Ligutti, N.C.R.Life Conference, Iowa; sympathy to Henschke on the death of Fr. J. Sammon; Crowe’s letter of resignation, 20 Feb. 1962, plans, faith in the work he has done there since 1946, awaiting B.A.S.’s return from Manila, happy relations with Bob and colleagues, the Movements’ requirements under present conditions as to staffing (a Managing Clerk, not National Secretary and two full-time organisers constantly in the field); recommends Pat Findlay as managing clerk, editor of Rural Life and Secretary of the Primary Produce Gift Scheme, etc.

Henschke to Findlay concerning the Bishops’ decision that aid to Free Asia should pass through the Episcopal Committee in the name of the Church in Australia, and using the Bishop Henschke Appeal Funds for this aid, 18 June, 23 Sept.1962 ; exchange with new Organising Secretary L. Bitmead, March 1963; “Reappraisal of the aims and activities made at a National Executive meeting, May 1963” mentioning subsequent appointment of two organisers at the August meeting (Fromholz for the Wagga Diocese, Paul Wild as General Organiser); Henschke to “Bob”, concerning Terry Frmholz as an organiser for the Diocese or region; Henschke to Findlay, endorsing anyone Bob recommends and approving Paul Wild; financial position) , the need for visiting organisers etc., and ways and means, Fromholz’s efforts and the inaugural meeting of the N.S.W. executive Aug.1963 – June 1964; direct dealing with aid organisations by N.C.R.M., June-July 1964. The report prepared by Wild and edited by Findlay, with copy of “General Organiser’s Report to National Executive” 26 Feb. 1964 (roneoed) and Orbost Land Settlement and Afforestation Committee proposed Scheme for Tostaree Settlement, Wagga Diocesan Organiser to National Executive. Copy of letter or extract B.A.S. to Henschke, 9 Feb. 1965, on the over-riding importance of spiritual values and formation, the expression only being economic, etc., and seeking the Bishop’s views; reply, 16 Feb. 1965.
