Series 17: National Correspondence
Scope and contents
The brief descriptions below (generally the date range only has been added to the file title where it does not correspond to that suggested in the file title) do not do justice to the importance of this correspondence between the National Office and the various centres of activity across the country. It reflects developments in policy and changing relationships within the organization, dealing with union, political and student affairs and personnel, finance, the search for suitable assistants, and numerous issues of public concern. The Melbourne end of the correspondence is conducted, for example, by Norman Lauritz (especially in the earliest years), H.R. Slattery, Gerald Mercer, Peter Westmore, and of course B.A.S.
