Large and mixed file of papers: New Guinea Training Organization; “Labor ‘Ruse’ to Hide Troubles” 4/11/1954 from Adelaide Advertiser; R.J. Corcoran, Dandenong, 3 Nov. 1954, to the Secretary, Federal Executive A.L.P., concerning the ‘Movement” and recounting an incident in his branch in 1951 (roneoed copy); Objectives (Movement); [at this point a loose note “History”]; to the Members of the Episcopal committee of Catholic Social Studies, 24 March 1956 from members of the National Executive, outlining the current dangers and suggesting the need to clarify the new general directives of the bishops in the light of the concrete situations in which they must be applied, the problems in practice of making a division between ‘industrial” (the work of the national organisation), and the “politics” (to be the province of the State Executives of the Social Studies Movement); their understanding of the future nature of the organisation and suggesting revision of the constitution etc. etc.; their sincere attempt to maintain national unity as marked out by the Episcopal Committee, agreeing to State autonomy in political matters as defined, though their convictions are quite different and difficulties greatly increased; the effect of uncertainty for nearly 18 months on the organisation and personnel.

Conference in Hobart mid-Jan. 1955, extremely confidential with pencilled annotation, with instructions on how to course of action to follow. Attached to A.L.P. Federal Conference to be held in Hobart Jan. 1955, preliminary gathering to prepare (Liaison Officer, National Secretary, Melbourne R.O., West Australian Re. (Senator Joe C.) Tasmanian Rep (Sen. George C) and Stan K.), attached to “Draft by Committee (October 1953) Federal Platform and Objective (roneoed) with one typed sheet of resolutions.
“Communists Grab Control of Victoria’s Power”, by Jim Orr, Retiring Secretary of the Central Gippsland Trades and Labor Council, 29 April 1960;
Paul Inman to Chief commissioner Vic. Police, 27 Oct. 1960, notifying him of intention of a group of unionists and anti-Communist sympathisers to peacefully demonstrate outside the Melbourne Trades Hall this evening at about the time the Chinese Communist “trade union” officials will arrive for a reception, and asking if police could attend at 5.30. Newspaper cutting re Dr. Burton.
