Scope and contents

Earliest letters: Bro. Jerome, De La Salle College, Malvern, to Messrs. Maher and Kelly, 16 May 1935, T.O. O’Dwyer, S.J., St. Patrick’s College, East Melbourne, and D.F. Purton, St. Patrick’s College, Ballarat, 20 May 1935, agreeing to attend the proposed conference, each commenting on the proposal; C.Y.M.S of Victoria to the President, Campion Society, 25 May 1925, inviting a representative at a Conference to discuss the fostering of boys’ guilds; H.A. Johnston, S.J., Corpus Christi College, Werribee, 2 June 1935, concerning a visit by representatives to the College.

Letter from F.K. Maher, 246 Toorak Road, South Yarra, to the newly-formed Campion Society of Sydney, 28 Jan. 1936, with advice based on “the mistakes and victories of five years”. Further correspondence records developments in Sydney; and a letter from Maher to T.M. Burke, 25 May 1937, asking for a donation towards a secretariat to organize the Study Group Movement now being assisted by the Campion Society. Further correspondence deals with developments and problems in Sydney with some correspondence with other groups including Melbourne. A letter of 10 March 1938 is addressed to both Maher and B.A.S, a letter to B.A.S. only 19 June 1945 and later, but it is chiefly Maher’s correspondence.
