Series 5: Correspondence

 Series

Scope and contents

This series is taken from cartons labelled “B.A.S. Correspondence”, with some additions from loose piles of files. In the main, the correspondence is filed by groups of years, and within these alphabetically (a file for each letter and letters arranged alphabetically within it), some files for individuals appearing in the sequence. Some files already formed a group of “Asian Correspondence”, and other files relating to Asian countries have been added to it (e.g. those of F.J. Mount); Political Correspondence formed a further group. A small number of files relating to various individuals, subjects and organizations, which did not occur in the chronological sequence appear at the end of the list.

Files are arranged as follows:

1. Groups identified by an approximate date range within which files are arranged alphabetically, most identified by a letter of the alphabet, some by the surname of an individual. 2. Asian Correspondence (correspondence with Asian individuals or visitors to Asia from Australia) 3. News Weekly and Point of View and General Correspondence (chiefly concerning current affairs and arising from the Point of View programme) 4. Political Correspondence (correspondence with politicians). 5. Other files (chiefly correspondence of individuals).
