Biographical / Historical

The print was published by the gallery Boussod & Valadon, founded in 1884. It is based on the 1881 watercolour by Luis Falero, ‘Twin Stars’, 1881, held by the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York.

The Boussod & Valadon print was used as inspiration for and advertising poster by Richard Wendel for Troedel & Cooper, ‘The Ideal Velveteen eclipses all others’, held by the SLV Pictures Collection (H2000.180/224).
