Biographical / Historical

Emma Coppin married Richard Chapman in August 1843, and later adopted his real name of Poynter. This playbill is the first reference to that change of name. In the playbills of 30 August 1845, they are using the name Chapman again, then revert to Poynter by 22 September. The spelling varies from Pointer to Poynter.
