General note

In most cases these are exact copies of the manuscript letters with a few minor typing errors: (1) Letter from Ellen Kean, St Kilda 26 May 1864, has the wrong details in address in the typescript copy; and (2) Letter from Vancouver Island, BC, 11 December 1864, has several sentences omitted in the typescript.
