General note

This is a typescript copy of what would appear to be the letter referred to and read during the court case Brooke v Heir and another in the Supreme Court of Victoria and reported in The Argus 30 August 1855. The letter is not quoted in the report. Brooke was asking for an injunction to prevent Cathcart and Heir from entering into an engagement with his rival, James Black of the Theatre Royal, Melbourne.
