Biographical / Historical
The playwrights, Arthur Shirley (1853-1925) and Ben Landeck (1864-1928) are known to have collaborated from 1908-1928, though this play was performed in London as early as 1902. The play is a stage adaptation of 'Le Petit Muet' [the little mute], by Henri Kerouel. The printing firm, James Walker & Co. also produced many WWI posters.
