Ida May Whitney Holmes was the mother of Helena Cass. Helena Cass's siblings included brothers Geoffrey, Hartley and Evelyn, and sister Dorothy.

The letter by Geoffrey Holmes was accompanied by eight photographs of Russian scenes: these are in BOX 26.
