1.6 'White' works on paper

This collection of 26 works on paper was acquired by the Library in 2019 and 2020, and added to the Arkley Archive in 2021.

“From 1974 onwards, Arkley’s production of works on paper accelerated at a remarkable rate. His studio collection alone contains a large collection of examples dateable to between 1974 and 1978, many of ‘finished’ or exhibition quality. Other examples are in other collections, or are documented from other sources such as Arkley’s own slide archive. Generally speaking, these works are in the ‘white’ style of the paintings he was painting and exhibiting during this same period. This substantial corpus of just over 250 drawings is catalogued here.” [ie. Arkley Works website]

The numbering system appearing in the title was devised by Prof. John Gregory, creator of the Arkley Works website, and has been utilised in this finding aid by the SLV collection cataloguer for consistency.
