Thomas family gold brooch, [between 1870 and 1880] Digital

15 carat yellow gold brooch lidded oval shaped brooch, in grape and vine design. The surround of the brooch is a leaf and fine wire workmanship and the hinged lid has a large leaf and fine wire work, and maulti claw, set with an oval brilliant cut amethyst (approximately 70pts). Under the lid of the brooch is a photograph of Moses Thomas, and on the verso is a hand coloured photograph of his wife, Ann Thomas.
